BLANCPAIN GT SERIES ENDURANCE CUP
An extremely international new line-up for the Endurance Cup!
AKKA-ASP’s third car in the Endurance Cup will bring together three talented drivers from different racing backgrounds. A new recruit to the French team is young Russian driver Timur BOGUSLAVSKIY, who most recently competed in LMP3, and who will be able to count on two excellent team-mates : Brazilian Felipe FRAGA, a GT specialist who already drove a Mercedes-AMG last season, and Nico BASTIAN, a regular driver for the French team, who is the reigning Champion of the Blancpain GT Series Silver Cup. A trio with complementary skills who share the same will to reach their common goal.
Therefore, three different cars will defend AKKA-ASP’s colours in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup in 2019. The most recently entered, the #90 Mercedes-AMG GT3, will be in the hands of three talented drivers whose alchemy could work miracles.
The youngest, Timur Bouguslavskiy, who will soon turn 19, is not exactly a beginner. After a fine career in karting, the young Russian has already gained some solid experience, ranging from rallycross to the European Le Mans Series (two seasons in LMP3) via single-make cups and various national championships. Timur, who most recently won the 2019 Lamborghini Supertrofeo Middle East, is a quick learner, and adapted extremely quickly to the Mercedes-AMG GT3 during tests in Barcelona and Albi.
Among his team-mates, 23-year-old Felipe Fraga is a specialist in both touring cars and GTs. An early talent, Felipe first knew success in karting, with five national titles. He moved into single-seaters before changing direction towards the Brazilian Touring Car Championship in 2013, followed by the Brazilian Stock Car series in 2014 (winning the title in 2016). He then headed towards Endurance, and took part in a number of events of the 2018 Blancpain GT Series with a Mercedes-AMG. Already familiar with the car, Felipe is ready for the season ahead.
The third driver in this new line-up is none other than German driver Nico Bastian, whose entry in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe with Thomas Neubauer has already been announced. Nico will be able to help his team-mates adapt to their new team. With plently of experience of the category and the car, the 2018 Champion of the Blancpain GT Series Silver Cup Champion (overall classification) and the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup Silver Cup is already in the starting blocks.
As far as Jérôme Policand is concerned, he is ready for an extremely intense season ahead.
« This crew, the third entered in Blancpain Endurance, shows some interesting possibilities. These three drivers have different experience behind the wheel, and this is a strength. All three are very fast and understand the meaning of ‘endurance’. This trio should work well together. Timur will also be competing in the World Challenge Europe with a team-mate who is yet to be announced. »
The next meeting will be at the Paul Ricard Circuit on March 13th and 14th for the Official Test Session, and the first track activity of the 2019 season…
