Vincent ABRIL joins Team AKKA-ASP (and MARCIELLO and MEADOWS aboard #88)!

AKKA-ASP is pleased to announce that Vincent ABRIL has joined the team.  The young driver, a Monaco resident, will take part in the 2019 Blancpain GT Series in the team’s PRO car, alongside Raffaele MARCIELLO (in the Endurance Cup and the GT World Challenge Europe) and Michael MEADOWS (in the Endurance Cup). With a full programme and a top-level line-up, all lights are green for a brilliant season ahead!

Having won the Silver Cup in 2014, Vincent ABRIL claimed the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup the next year, before finishing second overall in the Endurance Cup in 2017. Soon to turn 24, Vincent has already accumulated a fine career record and solid experience in the world of GT racing.

In 2019, for the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup, he will share the Team AKKA-ASP Mercedes-AMG GT3, entered in the Pro category, with two regulars from the French team, Raffaele MARCIELLO, official factory driver (reigning Champion of the Blancpain GT Series (overall) and of the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup) and Michael MEADOWS (reigning Champion of the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup).

In the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe (formerly known as the Sprint Cup), the duo of MARCIELLO-ABRIL, both having a fine top speed, are sure to make their mark on the finest European tracks.

For Jérôme Policand, AKKA-ASP team principal, Vincent’s arrival in the team is excellent news: “I am delighted to welcome Vincent to our team. I have always kept an eye on his career, ever since his debut in the French GT Championship, and I was able to follow his brilliant rise in the Blancpain.  Welcome aboard, Vincent!”

As for the other Mercedes-AMG GT3 cars entered in the Blancpain GT Series 2019…a bit more patience will be needed.  The reigning Champion Team of the Blancpain GT Series is sharpening its weapons.
